Hearts Team
Hearts FC were formed in 1990 as Kai Tak Hearts and were originally a predominantly expatriate police team, based out of the former Kai Tak Police Station. Word has it that the very first manager was an ardent Hearts of Midlothian FC fan.
Initially Kai Tak Hearts joined the 3rd Division of the Yau Yee League in 1990, and since winning the 3rd Division Championship in 1992, the club has been ever present in the top two divisions. The successful 1994-1995 season saw Hearts rise to the top division for the first time, as the 2nd Division Champions. Following relegation in 1998, Hearts bounced back winning promotion to Division 1 again, as runners-up to USRC in 2000. Relegation on the last day of the season in 2002 sees Hearts competing in the 2nd Division at the present time.
Hearts have been active participants in a number of club tours and tournaments around Asia, including Manila, Saigon, Shanghai and Shekou. Despite the traditional tour social activities, Hearts have always competed well in these international competitions, and have returned to HK with silver-wear on two occasions. Firstly, in 2000, Hearts were victorious in the Plate Competition of the Manila Sixes, and most recently in the 11-a-side tournament in Shekou where Hearts were crowned as Kingway Cup Winners in 2004 and being runners up in both 2005 and 2006.
Symbolizing the social nature of the club, Hearts had previously signed sponsorships with two of Hong Kong's famous bars of the past and present this being reflected in the club's previous names Hearts of the Jump and more recently Hearts of Delaney's.
During the 1994 close season, Hearts joined forces with Hong Kong Squadron from the Yau Yee League 1st Division to form a single club under society status. This coincided with the signing of a major sponsorship deal with the Hong Kong Delivery Company (HKDC) and the clubs compete in the Yau Yee Football League as HKDC Hearts and HKDC Squadron.
